Dora the Explorer is an American animated television series which was first broadcast in 2000 on the Nickelodeon channel. It stages the adventures of Dora Marquez, a seven-year-old Latina who loves to go on quests, accompanied by her talking purple backpack and her monkey companion Babouche. It is aimed at a very young audience by making them learn English, French or Spanish, while having fun and making them laugh.
