SpongeBob SquarePants is an American comedy animated television series, created by Stephen Hillenburg and first broadcast in 1999 on the Nickelodeon channel. Bob is a sea sponge who lives in an underwater town known as Bikini Bottom with his friend Patrick Star, and his neighbor and colleague Squidward J. Q. Tentacles. The success of SpongeBob SquarePants among young and old has resulted in the creation of many derivative products and several films.
